Lincoln man will go to jail for beating toddler
A Lincoln man will spend five to 10 years in prison for beating a 2-year-old boy.
Authorities say in September, Joshua Ironshell held the boy with one arm while in a shower and spanked the boy so hard they both fell.
Several days later, the boy briefly stopped breathing during a seizure, then had another seizure at a hospital. Doctors said the boy was bleeding on the brain and had suffered spinal fractures.
Ironshell had pleaded guilty earlier and was sentenced on Thursday. In court Thursday, Ironshell read a letter expressing his regret.
The boy's mother, 20-year-old Katrina Darasouk, pleaded no contest to a child-abuse charge and is scheduled for sentencing on June 24.
