Lincoln Mom And Acquaintance Arrested In Child Abuse Case

Lincoln Police were sent to Bryan LGH Wednesday night to investigate a possible child abuse case.

Police say around 9 o'clock last night, Jacqueline Higgins brought her 18-month-old daughter to the hospital after she suspected the abuse.

Even though she's not the person who abused the child, she's in jail along with the man who watches the child during the day.

Police say the 23-year-old Higgins lives with John Vivier and his wife Elizabeth. Vivier, who watched Higgins' child during the day, was arrested for felony child abuse.

Police say the 18-month-old child was found to have bruising on her face and neck as well as a broken scapula and spiral fracture to her arm.

Higgins was also arrested for felony child neglect because she suspected her child was being abused but didn't report it to police.  Police believe Vivier abused the child while trying to discipline her.

The little girl along with her two-and-a-half year old brother and Vivier's two-year-old daughter were all removed from the home.
