Lincoln Officers Say They Were Forced to Shoot Suspect

Lincoln's police chief says two officers were practically forced to shoot a 41-year-old Lincoln man Saturday night. Officials say when police arrived, Kevin Pogue was waving a gun, which later turned out to be a BB gun. The officers told Pogue to drop his weapon, nearly fifteen times, but he continued to advance. That's when Officer Tarrence Vernon shot him in the leg. Pogue is a disabled adult who lives in a nearby group home.

Police later found he was also armed with another BB gun. Both weapons belong to Pogue and police say the group home knew he kept them in his room.
