Lincoln Outbids Omaha to Host Wrestling Tournament

Thousands of wrestlers and their fans made the trip to the Capital City this week for the State Wrestling Tournament. A few months ago, there was a big debate over whether to keep the State Tournament in Lincoln or move it to Omaha. In the end, the Nebraska School Activities Association decided the Capital City would be the winner. Omaha began competing for the chance to host the tournament after the completion of the city's new Qwest Center. It has18-hundred more seats than the Devaney Center. The Lincoln Chamber of Commerce says the tournament brings in about 8.5 million dollars in revenue. While Omaha did outbid Lincoln, the N.S.A.A. said higher costs of parking, tickets and concessions knocked Omaha out of contention. This is Lincoln's first year in a two year agreement to host the tournament.
