Lincoln Pius X enter cash contest

Lincoln Pius X high school is in a race for votes. They want to build a new cafeteria, but they need your vote to get the cash needed.

And so they're asking everyone in the state to log on to Facebook.  Pius is in the running to receive half a million dollars from the Kohl's Cares fundraiser.

20 of these prizes will be given out to schools that are in need of some sort of renovation.  Pius needs a place to cook food.

Currently, food is prepared in another building across from the school.  However, that building will no longer be available to Pius.

Principle Tom Korta explains why.  “Well, for many years on different days vendors would come in and serve food to the kids.   When we built the new commons we were about ¾ of a million shy of being able to put in a kitchen.”

To win the money, Pius has to have enough votes on Facebook.  Students say they're close to being in the top 20, but winning is about more than just saving the lunch ladies a walk across the parking lot.

“Well, even after we build the cafeteria, the left over money can be used for sending kids to pius for our tuition rates and kids who wouldn't have been able to pay for the tuition or uniforms, it gives them the opportunity to have the education we had,”  says one student.

If you want to vote for Pius in the Kohl's Cares fundraiser, you have to log on to Facebook to do it.  Right now they're in 26th place.
