Lincoln Plant Evacuated After Chemical Spill
People were evacuated from a North Lincoln factory Tuesday afternoon following a chemical spill. Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews were called to the Four Seasons Paint factory around eleven thirty. Upon arriving at the scene, they learned that a solvent used to make paint had been spilled, contaminating areas both inside and outside the factory. Fifteen workers were evacuated, five of them were decontaminated on the scene.
Health officials examined the scene and say the air in the area is now safe, but the soil take weeks or longer depending on how much soil might be contaminated. Fire and Rescue Hazmat teams say the spill came from a leaky pipe that could have possibly been corroded.
