Updated: Family hit by holiday Grinch

With the holidays coming up, a Lincoln family is suddenly left with nothing under their Christmas tree.

It may be a case of “the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.”  The Gonzales family came home Thursday night to find their house had been burglarized and all of their Christmas gifts gone.

Melva Gonzales returned to her home near 13th and “G” streets Thursday night to find her front door had been broken in, her furniture thrown around and the gifts she had bought for her five-year-old daughter Kamora, gone.

Someone stole nearly $400 in gifts a Blue Ray player, laptop and even Gonzales's engagement ring.  Now she says they will have to start holiday shopping from the beginning, a task anyone will agree is difficult enough the first time around.

At the end of the day, it's easy to say this truly is a case similar to that of the Grinch, but without the storybook ending.

Melva says she hopes they can catch whoever committed this crime before someone else's Christmas is ruined.  Police are investigating the incident, but have no suspects.  If you have any information, call Crimestoppers at 375-3600.
