Police say he shaved his head to hide his identity.

Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood says 29-year-old Larry Alt was cited and released for larceny from auto.

Officer Flood says on Monday afternoon, a woman called police to report seeing a man with shoulder length hair throw a woman's purse into a trash can near 30th and Merrill streets.  Just minutes before, a purse was reported stolen from a car near 35th and Gladstone.  Both locations are in north Lincoln.

Flood says officers tracked down Alt, due to the witness's description of his Jeep. Police say Alt tried to hide his identity by shaving his hair after dumping the purse.  Officers says he had missed several spots on his head, and his scalp was lighter than his tanned face.
