Lincoln Police shot a deer to death that had broken through a window into a mattress store in Lincoln.

Police say the deer destroyed about $12,000 worth of property inside the showroom of Land and Sky Manufacturing near the Lincoln Airport as it ran around on Thursday afternoon. Lincoln Police Capt. Anthony Butler said the deer was stuck between a wall and a bed when officers arrived.

Police consulted with animal control, Nebraska Game and Parks experts and veterinarians. Butler says officers were advised to shoot the deer. Butler says no store worker was injured.
