Here is a statement from Lincoln Public Schools on why they decided to close schools today.

There will be NO classes for Lincoln Public Schools on Wednesday, Feb. 3, due to the condition of the sidewalks and streets, and snow and ice conditions.
"We make this decision in the interest of the well-being of our students, staff and families," said Steve Joel, superintendent for Lincoln Public Schools.  "We were up very early this morning driving around the city neighborhoods, and we are concerned that conditions – especially on the side streets – might not be safe for our students and families, buses and cars in navigating their way to schools."
