Lincoln Students Protest Closing of 2 Libraries

Some Lincoln elementary school children protested the possibility of two libraries closing down.

Budget cuts may force the Library Board of Trustrees to close the Bethany and South Branch libraries.

Fourth grade students rallied outside of the south branch today in hopes of keeping the library open.

“I've been coming to south branch ever since I was 2 and when I heard it was under the possibility of being shut down I thought I would help and write a letter, and help make some posters,” said Sheridan Elementary fourth grader Grace Doll.

The Library Board of Trustees will make a recommendation to the mayor tomorrow on whether to close the two branches.

The Bethany and South branch libraries are smaller in size and don't have the full range of services that other libraries offer.
