LINCOLN, Neb. – Lincoln Southwest softball picked up a 4-3 win against Norfolk to open the season on Thursday, in dramatic fashion.

The Silver Hawks were down to their final out, before a controversial call gave them an opportunity to send the game against Norfolk to extra innings. In the bottom of the 8th, Kelsey Kobza scored the game-winning run after an errant throw ricocheted off her head.

"I just kinda read the ball," Kobza said following the game. "I knew we were in a tough situation, so I just stole the base and it happened to hit my head, so I listened to everyone screaming at me and I stole home. We were in a tough spot and I think it’s pretty amazing to end off with a win and start the season off like that, and hopefully we can keep it going."
