Lincoln Toddler Abducted, Father Arrested

Some scary moments for a Lincoln mother Tuesday, as she watched the abduction of her son. It happened around noon Tuesday at the Conoco station near Ashland on Interstate 80. The State Patrol tells Channel 8 Eyewitness News the mother called police saying her three year old son was taken at gun point by the boy's father.

Niama Keys was able to give a description of the car the boy's father was driving. The State Patrol tells us just about a half hour later the car was spotted on I-80 by a trooper. The driver, 36 year old Donald Eugene Harbert did not stop. That's when the chase began. Harbert drove him and his son Kobe into Omaha where the car went up on a curb and got stuck near an Omaha shopping center at 84th and Brentwood.

Troopers say the boy's life was in danger. Now, the boys father Donald Harbert was taken into custody by police. State Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins says the patrol was in the process of issuing an Amber Alert for young Kobe but that wasn't needed once troopers spotted the car. His father received treatment at an Omaha hospital and is now in the Cass County jail.
