Lincoln voters approve funding plan for arena
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln men's and women's basketball teams are closer to playing in a new arena, with voters approving a proposal that will help fund a $344 million downtown revitalization project.
With all 223 precincts reporting, the measure won by a margin of 56 percent to 44 percent Tuesday.
The arena would be the focal point of the project, with the Cornhusker basketball teams moving into the 16,000-seat facility in 2013-14.
The teams have played at the Devaney Sports Center on campus since 1976.
