Local Families Apply For Holiday Help
Hundreds of people are hoping you can help make their holidays a little bit brighter.
Many people waited in long lines to apply for help from the Salvation Army.
The organization says the need has never been greater.
The Salvation Army is trying to raise a half a million dollars in Lincoln.
So far they say it hasn't been going all that well.
Both the amount of donations, and the number of volunteers are down half from last year.
Those who qualify will get food vouchers and Christmas gifts for their children.
Many of the people have jobs.
But, they are minimum wage jobs and can't make ends meet.
The donations will fund the organization's programs all year.
Westfield Gateway Shoppingtown is just one of nearly 30 spots in Lincoln where people can pick an angel off a Christmas tree.
Then all you need to do is buy a gift and drop it back off unwrapped.
The Salvation Army will be taking applications from people who'd like Christmas assistance this entire week.
For more information on the bell ringing, or giving tree programs, you can call the Salvation Army at 474-6263.
