Local gas prices hover around $4.00/gallon
With summer and vacations nearing, many families are thinking about the price at the pump.
Last year in Lincoln, a gallon of unleaded gasoline cost $2.90. This year it's averaging around $3.98, depending on where you get it.
Some gas stations have unleaded at more than $4.00. Drivers like Dorothy Larston say that's too high, and they're having to cut their budgets elsewhere. She says she bought her Prius because it was a fuel efficient vehicle.
Ray Walker, who is in town from St. Louis says he was surprised when he saw how much gas costs in Lincoln. “Actually, this is the highest by about five cents.”
Nationally, the price of a gallon of regular gasoline averages $3.96, up 38% from levels a year ago.
