Local Subaru dealership gives generous gift to Capital Humane Society

It was locals helping a local organization. For every new Subaru sold at DuTeau Subaru for the “Share Love Event” from November to January  new vehicle owners picked from five charities to have the dealership donate $250 to.

One of those charities was the Capital Humane Society.

CEO of the Capital Humane Society Bob Downey said, “It takes us about $250 to move an animal from the shelter into a new home. All the spraying and neutering, micro chipping, feeding, cleaning up after the pets, housing them until they get a new home, it all adds up.”

One of the men who helped sell those cars said many people decided to donate locally to the humane society.

Eric Klein, the dealership sales manager, said the organization was very surprised to hear they had chose them as a charity for the “Share the Love Event.”

Klein said, “Then once we called and told them how much they were getting, they were very surprised.”

DuTeau Subaru surprised Downey with a check for over 11 thousand dollars.

That money will go toward the “Raise and Adoption” program at the humane society.

Downey says the donation will help change animal lives as well as the people who adopt them.

Downey said, “This check will help 48 animals find new homes in Lincoln, Neb. and for us that’s just incredible.”
