LPD: High school student caught trying to sell drugs

Derek Pond

Police say a high school senior is arrested after trying to sell pain killers to other students at school.

Police Officer Katie Flood says a security director learned that 18–year–old Derek Pond had been approaching classmates at Lincoln Northeast High School to buy hydrocodone. That's when officers approached him.

“Derek's backpack was searched and their was a prescription bottle of hydrocodone found inside,” says Officer Flood.  Flood says Pond was trying to sell his own prescription of hydrocodone.

Police arrested the Pond for possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance.
