UPDATE: LPS teacher arrested in sex trafficking sting

A Lincoln Northeast High School gym teacher was one of 12 people arrested during a sex trafficking sting in Lincoln.

Dwain Borchers, 58, was an employee of Lincoln Public Schools when he was arrested for solicitation. At the time of his arrest, Borchers was employed by Lincoln Public Schools, according to LPS, as of Wednesday he is no longer employed there. 

Borchers was a physical education teacher with LPS for 23 years, he also coached wrestling at Northeast up until 2011.


Twelve people have been arrested for sex trafficking in Lincoln.

The arrests are part of a nationwide Johns Suppression Initiative aimed at reducing the number of sex buyers on the streets.

This summer’s initiative has resulted in more than 1,300 sex buyers, which is a record.

The initiative is based out of Cook County, Illinois. Lincoln is one of more than 70 agencies that are part of the initiative.
