LPD Officer Briggs resigns after investigation

A Lincoln Police Officer who headed Police Union Charities has stepped down. Lincoln Police Chief Tom Casady says the resignation of Officer Cassandra Briggs concludes an internal affairs investigation and would not comment further.

Briggs has been on administrative leave but police wouldn't say why.   Lincoln Police Union Charities said they found discrepancies in their financial records and one source told us that's why Briggs was on administrative leave. No one has been arrested and no charges have been filed.

Joe Kelly, the Lancaster County Attorney, says his office is investigating the case. He says he will decide whether to file a charge sometime next week.
