MAD Dads needs help raising money for kids bikes

A long time program in Lincoln that provides kids with bicycles is asking for your help.

MAD Dads has given away nearly 7,000 bikes over the last 19 years. Saturday was their open house. Lincoln's 21st Century Lion's Club donated $300.

But the organization still has a long way to go to meet their goal. They want to raise $9,000 in time for the holidays.

“Our need is always funds. You know we're getting ready for our Christmas program. We've got 22 elementary schools, we have 300 kids that we've got to raise funds for for bicycles,” MAD Dads Director Don Coleman said.

It costs around $30 for a bike to be refurnished. Coleman says they can reuse parts from old bikes but prefer to buy them brand new.
