“Making Strides Against Breast Cancer”

This year alone…more than 1000 Nebraskans will learn they have breast cancer…and 200 will die from the disease… Sunday the American Cancer Society held the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk to raise money for, and awareness about, breast cancer. The five mile walk took place at Holmes Lake Park in Lincoln. Pink scarves were worn by each cancer survivor who participated. Channel 8 played a role in Sunday's walk. As one of the sponsors of the event, KLKN-TV was represented by news anchors Rod Fowler and Natalie Faunce. They joined Mayor Coleen Seng in leading the more than 3000 participants at the start of Sunday's benefit. Some $140,000 was raised through contributions made to sponsor walkers. It will go to the American Cancer Society which helps women overcome breast cancer and aids in research.
