Man arrested for attempted sexual assault of child

"John Doe"

Police say a man was arrested for attempted sexual assault of a child Sunday morning.

Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood say the man was booked into jail as “John Doe” until his identity can be verified.  Flood says the man approached four 10-11 year old girls who were playing outside near 30th and Q streets.   Police say he asked one to have sex with him.  One of the girls' mother came out and threatened to call police.  He got away, but was spotted a few blocks away and positively identified by the girls.

Police say the man had a Mexico driver's license, and gave officers four different dates of birth.
