Police arrested a Lincoln man early Sunday morning after they say he rammed into their police cruiser.

It happened 1:30 a.m. near 19th and Garfield Streets. Police say they were in the area when they noticed a suspicious person. They contacted 30-year-old William Lawson of Lincoln. That’s when they say he drove off, rammed into their patrol car and then jumped out his car window and took off on foot.

Police deployed their taser and then took Lawson into custody. They discovered an expandable baton where he fled. He also had illegal possession of a handgun in his car. He was arrested for ‘felon in possession of a firearm’ and ‘felon in possession of a deadly weapon.’
