Man indicted in Nebraska amber alert case
A New York man faces federal charges in a sex case that prompted an Amber Alert last week in north-central Nebraska. Robert Olney, of Schenectady, N.Y., was indicted Wednesday in U.S. District Court on charges of transporting a minor with the intention of engaging in sex and traveling across state lines to have sex with a minor.
He could face life in prison if convicted. Court documents says Olney drove from Alabama to Nebraska to pick up a 15-year-old girl he met online. The documents say the two left Ainsworth on July 14 and had sex several times as they traveled to Arkansas, where Olney surrendered the next day to police in Little Rock. Court records don't list an attorney for Olney. He was being held Thursday in the Pulaski County, Ark., jail.
