Man killed near tracks likely hopped train
Officials say a man whose body was found near railroad tracks in Lincoln likely hopped aboard a train passing through downtown but later fell and was struck.
Lincoln police Capt. David Beggs said that 22-year-old Brandon Roth, of Marysville, Kan., was in the area to build grain bins and was staying at a motel in west Lincoln. Beggs says people who'd been out drinking with him say Roth decided to walk across the tracks rather than use an overpass.
Beggs says Roth apparently got on a train and fell about two miles away. Roth's body was spotted by a train engineer about 7:30 a.m. Saturday. Autopsy tests have not been completed.
