Mayor Beutler, council incumbents re-elected

Mayor Beutler won another term serving the city of Lincoln in Tuesday night's election.  He defeated challenger Tammy Buffington with nearly 65% of the vote.  Buffington took 35% vote.

During is first four years, Mayor Beutler has been involved in projects improving the West Haymarket, including the arena.  He says for his next term, he wants to improve city safety and economic development to attract more young people to the capitol city.

Buffington had always called the race a 'David v. Goliath' competition.  She handled the loss gracefully, saying she had a great time campaigning and meeting new people.

Other big winners for the night were city councilmen Doug Emery, Jon Camp and Jonathan Cook.  Emery won more than 67% of the vote in District 1.  Camp took the District 2 seat with 56% and Cook had 63% in District 3.

A tight race for Carl Eskridge, who narrowly won the District 4 seat, formerly held by John Spatz.  He took 50.9% of the vote over Chad Wright who won 48.7% .
