Mayor seeks public input on city budget

Lincoln residents are being asked to help the city make some tough budget choices. Should a fire station be closed? What about closing five neighborhood pools? Should property taxes be raised? The City Council is asking residents for guidance in an online survey that gives citizens a glimpse of the choices ahead.

The survey lists nine cuts that are real possibilities as city leaders look for ways to trim during the recession. Finance Director Don Herz says they are programs that don't rise to the top priority level of public safety and have been discussed in previous years.

The survey shows how much property taxes would go up or down based on what services end.
