The memorial for fallen Husker Football star Sam Foltz is growing north of the stadium.

The NU punter was killed in a car crash in Wisconsin Saturday.

He was there helping kids at a kicking camp.

Monday, fans near and far stopped by to honor the Greeley, Nebraska native like Alan Haney from who drove down from Omaha.

"It just kind of makes you feel empty to have such a tragedy happen to such a young man,” Omaha Husker Fan Alan Haney said.

Foltz touched many lives including 10–year–old Jayden Potter of Lincoln.

He and his mother wanted to pay their respects to Foltz, so they made him a gift.

Potter kicked with him at a football camp as well.

"I just wanted to honor him for being a good player on and off the field,” Lincoln Fan Jayden Potter said.

The news hasn’t only shocked fans, but also rocked the Nebraska football team.

His teammates organized a vigil Sunday afternoon outside of the Osborne complex.

They said they can’t believe it.

"I don’t think it’s 100 percent set in yet, but I am sure when we start camp here and he’s not around. I think it will hit a lot of guys really hard,” NU Defensive Lineman Mick Stoltenberg said.

This isn’t the first time Husker Nation has experienced heartbreak like this.

Fans felt the same loss when Brook Berringer was killed in ’96 in a plane crash.

They said this is when they stick closer together.

"When we see one of ours has fallen, we fall too. We hurt too and we cry too and it just pulls the whole nation a little bit closer together,” Nebraska Native Eric Lentz said.

As now, there has been no word yet about funeral arrangements.
