More Severe Weather Threatens Storm Damaged Areas Again
The threat of more severe weather has people of Hallam on edge Monday, less than two days after a tornado ravaged the town of 276 south of Lincoln. Chief Lancaster County Deputy Sheriff Bill Jarrett says weather spotters are in the area to keep an eye on any possible storm developments. Jarrett says, quote, “If they issue severe weather warnings, we'll probably ask residents to leave. I think these people understand there is no shelter left.''
The Saturday night tornado all but leveled the town. Jarrett also is asking volunteers wanting to help with the cleanup to wait until Tuesday. He says residents are in the process or sifting through their personal belongings Monday. Law enforcement officers have set up road blocks to allow only residents and other authorized personnel to enter the town.
