Morning Apartment Fire

An early morning apartment fire sent one person to the hospital.

Residents we spoke with say they all worked together to make sure everyone was out of the apartment building.
However… One man was taken to Saint Elizabeth's for minor burns.

Here's a look at the building that caught fire around three o'clock Friday morning….near 20th and 'G' streets.

Fire officials say they had to use ladders to rescue residents from the top floor of the building.

Neighbors say they saw smoke and flames shooting out of the windows.

One resident says they're lucky the fire didn't spread to the rest of the building.

Fire investigators say the fire was caused by an unattended candle.

Damage is estimated at 100-thousand dollars.

Right now, maintenance workers are clearing out the apartment..trying to clean it up.
