National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

As you begin your spring cleaning, the police department wants you to take some time to clean out your medicine cabinet as well.  Lincoln Police are hosting their second national prescription drug take back day. This gives the public an opportunity to properly dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs with no questions asked.

“This initiative provides a vital public safety issue medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse,” Ofc. Katie Flood said.

Last year, nearly 600 pounds of prescription drugs were collected in Lincoln alone.  The service is free and will be happening on April 30th from 10:00 to 2:00 pm at the Walgreens at 8300 Northern Lights Dr., 2630 Pine Lake Road, 4000 S. 70th street and CVS locations at 4800 O street, and 1401 Superior St.
