NE Soldiers Honored
17 Nebraska Soldiers were given a high honor today at the capitol for their bravery overseas. It was the first ceremony of it's kind since the war started. They were called up individually in front of family and state officials to recieve their purple hearts or bronze stars. Two of the soldiers have brought something home they shared in Iraq.
Specialist Jennifer Beck saved Sergeant Terry Ricketts's life after his unit was ambushed. The two medals given out today were the purple heart and the bronze star.
The purple heart is for those who have been wounded or killed by the enemy. The bronze medal is for heroic actions.
