NE Storm Resources

For victims of the Nebraska ice storm:

Limited assistance is available for farmers, ranchers and their families.  Staff members with the Nebraska Rural Response Hotline can help identify needs, and point people to the available resources.  The number is 1-800-464-0258.

If you've been temporarily out of work due to the damage, you may qualify for unemployment financial aid.  To apply, call 1-877-725-9918.  No storm victims should apply for assistance on-line.

There also have been a lot of insurance questions, when it comes to losses from the storm.  Insurance coverage and provisions vary by specific circumstance.  The Nebraska Department of Insurance has posted answers to common questions on its website, www.dio.ne.gov.  You can also get help by calling 1-877-564-7323.

For those who would like to help storm victims:

You can also call the Nebraska Rural Response Hotline to make monetary donations.  Their number is 1-800-464-0258.

Catholic Social Services is collecting non-perishable food items, water and cash donations.  The drive continues Saturday in Lincoln from noon until 4 in the parking lot of O'Asian Gardens at 25th and O Streets.  In the Hastings area, donations are being accepted at 515 West Third Street. Those interested in helping out after that, can drop off donations at the CSS office at 1313 Eldon Drive in Lincoln.  For more information, call 1-800-981-8242 or 402-474-1600.
