Nearly 100 Jobs At Goodyear In Question

Close to 100 employees at Lincoln's Goodyear Plant could soon be out of a job. After lengthy meetings with Goodyear's top executives, union leaders learned this week that the company wants to do away with two of the plant's departments. It's not clear when the layoffs would come, but it could be in July.  Eliminating the plant's V belt and cut-edge departments would bring the total number of employees at the plant to well under 500.

Talks between Goodyear and the union are ongoing. Union leaders say they're hopeful the jobs can stay. An agreement between the two parties to keep the plant open until 2009, does not pertain to the two departments in question.
