Neb. dam failure prompts flood warning downstream
The failure of a Cedar River dam near Ericson in east-central Nebraska has prompted authorities to issue flash flood warnings.
The National Weather Service said early Monday morning that the downstream towns of Primrose and Cedar Rapids in southwest Boone County “could experience significant flooding.''
Monday morning's rains and continued runoff from the weekend storms have closed roads and forced evacuations in several areas along the Elkhorn River in eastern Nebraska.
On Sunday night, authorities were helping people leave their homes in western Douglas County.
Record-high water levels were expected upstream at Neligh.
