Lincoln, Neb. — The Nebraska softball team (30-20, 8-11 Big Ten) fell to Wisconsin (25-19, 9-8 Big Ten) by a score of 11-2 on Sunday afternoon in six innings.

Sarah Yocom led the Huskers on offense. She earned her third start of the season at third base and went 2-for-3, with one RBI. Olivia Ferrell also had a good day at the plate, hitting 1-for-2 with one run. Alyvia Simmons, Laura Barrow and Madi Unzicker each had one hit for the Huskers.

Kaylan Jablonski dropped to 21-13 on the season, pitching 3.0 innings and giving up six runs on eight hits. She also had four strikeouts. Olivia Ferrell pitched 3.0 innings of relief. She gave up five runs on five hits and had two strikeouts.

In the first, Wisconsin hit back-to-back singles with no outs to put two runners on. Jablonski responded with two big strikeouts, but a walk loaded the bases. Jablonski came up big once again, getting another strikeout to get out of the jam.

In the second, Wisconsin took a 4-0 lead. A three-run homer got the Badgers going. Another runner got to third with a fielder’s choice and a single. The run scored on a successful called double steal play.

The Badgers scored two more in the third with a walk and three hits.

Nebraska got on board in the fifth. Madi Unzicker hit a leadoff single and Rylie Unzicker pinch ran for her. Ferrell followed suit and singled. Rylie Unzicker reached third on the play and Ferrell advanced to second on the throw, but an obstruction call moved both runners up one base. Ferrrell scored on a single by Sarah Yocom.

UW scored five runs in the sixth with four hits, including one double and two walks.

In the bottom of the inning, Madi Unzicker reached base on an error and Yocom singled, but the Huskers were unable to score any runs. The game ended due to the mercy rule.
