Nebraska and Creighton Win at Regional
(Lincoln-AP) — Nicole Trimboli's two-run home run and Peaches James' two-run double highlighted a four-run fourth inning that carried the Nebraska softball team to a six-nothing win over Lehigh in the NCAA Lincoln regional Thursday. The Cornhuskers advance to a game against in-state rival Creighton at 12:30 on Friday afternoon.
The Bluejays moved on with a six-to-two win over Florida Atlantic.
Nebraska's James allowed two hits, struck out 12 and walked none in six innings.
In creighton's win, Stacey Rybar led off the game with the first of her two home runs. The Missouri Valley Conference player of the year and the M-V-C's career home run leader homered again in the fifth. Creighton pitcher Tammy Nielsen allowed just three hits and held F-A-U scoreless through five innings. She struck out six and walked one.
