Nebraska Beats Creighton (Finally) To Advance In NIT

(Omaha-AP) — Nate Johnson made a running layup with eleven-point-two seconds left to give Nebraska a 71-to-70 victory over Creighton in the opening round of the National Invitation Tournament in Omaha Tuesday. Johnson's shot capped the Cornhuskers' comeback from a five-point deficit in the final two minutes. Nebraska advances to play the winner of Wednesday's meeting between Troy State and Niagara. The game will be in Lincoln on Friday. Jake Muhleisen led the Huskers with 17 points and Johnson added eleven points. Creighton got 16 points from Joe Dabbert, 15 from Johnny Mathies and 13 from Nate Funk. Creighton had won the regular-season meeting between the teams 61-to-54 on December 10th.
