NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. (AP)  A Nebraska City man has been sentenced to prison for duct-taping two children to chairs and forcing them to watch the movie “Mommie Dearest.”

Otoe County District Judge Jeffrey Funke sentenced 30-year-old Glenn Oliver on Tuesday to three years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts of child abuse.

Authorities say Oliver was babysitting his former girlfriend’s 4- and 6-year-old sons in August when he reportedly taped the boys to their chairs while the movie played.

Court records say Oliver reported to officers that the boys’ mother told them to watch the movie to show them she wasn’t the meanest mother.         The mother, 28-year-old Mary Lucas, was convicted of child abuse after pleading no contest. Her sentencing is set for April 12.
