Nebraska coaching search update

Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst continues his search for a new football coach Monday.

A number of football coaches around the country have been mentioned as potential candidates. One of those names is former Nebraska quarterback and current Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost. Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens talked about Frost’s candidacy in a press conference Sunday previewing the Ducks’ Pac-12 championship game Friday against Arizona.

“For the most part people respect what’s happening and understand what’s going on and the time constraints and will be respectful of that,” Mullens said. “These don’t have to get done tomorrow and if there’s somebody on our staff who’s performed at a high level and deserves an opportunity, I think people will be understanding of where we are.”

Dustin Fox, a college football and NFL analyst for CBS, reported on Twitter Monday that former Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel was not interested in the position. Tressel was another coach many speculated to be in the running.

Bovada, a popular betting site, came out with its odds on who will be the next Nebraska coach. Here are those odds:

-Scott Frost, Oregon OC, 5/2

-Pat Narduzzi, Michigan State DC,    9/2

-Jim McElwain, Colorado State head coach,    5/1
