Nebraska considering letting alcohol back into parks
Nebraska authorities are being asked to let alcohol back into state parks.
The proposal would ease a ban that took effect in 1995 after beer and other types of booze fueled rowdy parties and violence, especially at Lake McConaughy near Ogallala in western Nebraska.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will hold a public hearing on the proposal at its meeting May 28 in Gering.
The proposal contains some restrictions, including limits on where campers could drink and boozing after 10 p.m. It would ban beer kegs or any container bigger than a gallon.
