Nebraska Diamond Teams Handle Mustangs, Bulldogs
Lincoln–The 5th-ranked Nebraska softball team and the 15th-ranked Nebraska baseball team were both victorious on Tuesday in front of their home fans.
Rhonda Revelle's softball team cranked out 22 hits, including 8 doubles in a 7-1, 10-0 double-header sweep of Drake. Peaches James struck out six en route to the Game 1 victory. Lisa Wangler won game two.
Next door at Hawks Field, Mike Anderson's men used homeruns from Matt Hopper and Daniel Bruce to down Cal-Poly 8-3 for their fourth-straight win. Hopper's 9th homerun of the season in the second inning tied the game at 2. Designated hitter Curtis Ledbetter added a 2-out, 2-run double to leftfield to give the hometeam a 4-2 lead after 1. Sophomore Phil Shirek got the start and his first win of the season as he surrendered 3 runs on 5 hits and struck out 2 in 6 innings of work.
