Nebraska Online Welfare Tool

The state Department of Health and Human Services says more than 6,400 Nebraskans have applied for welfare and other benefits on the Internet using a new tool that went online in September.

Through ACCESSNebraska, low-income Nebraskans can apply for benefits from any computer that has Internet access.

People can apply for Medicaid, food stamp benefits, Aid to Dependent Children, Assistance to the Aged, Blind or Disabled, energy assistance, Kids Connection and child care assistance.

They can also use a screening tool that helps them see what assistance they may be eligible to receive.
