Nebraska Practices In Anticipation For Wisconsin

The Nebraska football team practiced for just over two hours on Monday afternoon at the Ed and Joyanne Gass practice field outside of the Hawks Championship Center. After practice, defensive coordinator Carl Pelini spoke to the media.

“It was a good practice,” Pelini said. “We had a good day. Guys are excited to get into conference play.”

Pelini touched on what it will be like to have Jared Crick, Lavonte David and Alfonzo Dennard on the field together for the first time on Saturday night.

“They'll ease my pain a little bit.” Pelini said. “It is just nice to have your guys back and healthy. They all looked good out there today, which was good to see.”

Pelini also talked about Wisconsin and how important it will be to get the Badger offense off the field when Nebraska has the chance.

“They're good on third down, but they're good on first and second down. They execute and understand their scheme and are efficient in what they do. They're one of the best offenses I've seen while I've been here.”

Pelini noted that Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson is probably the best quarterback the Huskers have seen so far this season.

“He is real smooth and not only a real talent, but he can run. He does a lot with his legs. He is a game manager and runs that offense efficiently with them. He is as good of a quarterback as we have faced.”

The Huskers will take on the Badgers on Saturday at 7 p.m. in college football's only top-10 battle this week.
