Nebraska state colleges raising tuition 5 pct

Undergraduate students at Nebraska's three state colleges will pay an average 5 percent more for tuition next school year.

Under a proposal approved Thursday by the Nebraska State College System board of trustees, undergraduates from Nebraska will pay more than $135 an hour at the three state schools.

They are in Chadron, Wayne and Peru. Nonresident undergraduates will pay nearly $271 per credit hour.

The board also approved 1 percent salary increases for the system chancellor, the three college presidents and non-union staffers.
