Nebraska unemployment rate drops to 4.2 percent
Nebraska's unemployment rate hit 4.2 percent in March, down a tenth of a point from the February figure of 4.3 percent. The state Department of Labor said in a news release Tuesday that a year ago the Nebraska rate was 4.9 percent.
Nebraska's unemployment rate was less than half the national rate of 8.8 percent in March, even though the national figure improved from February's 8.9 percent and 9.7 percent in March 2010.
The Labor Department says the three Nebraska sectors with the biggest annual increases in jobs in March were mining and construction, leisure and hospitality and professional and business services.
