Nebraska Woman Charged With Embezzling Half-Million From School Foundation

Bail has been set for the former director of the Kearney Public Schools Foundation accused of embezzling more the $500,000 from the group.

Angela Regenos of Kearney must post $50,000 bond to be releasedfrom jail. The 46-year-old Regenos appeared in Buffalo County Court on Monday. She is charged with felony theft, accused of stealing more than $500,000 from the foundation from July 2005 to July 2008.

Buffalo County Attorney Shawn Eatherton says investigators believe Regenos also stole substantial amounts of money before July 2005, but the state statute of limitations prevents charging her for that.

Regenos could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison if

convicted.
