Coming off a fifth-place finish at the 2018 Big Ten Championships and a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Championships, the Nebraska wrestling team will start the 2018-19 season ranked No. 12 nationally in the NWCA Division I Coaches’ Poll.

NU also started off the 2017-18 season as the No. 12 ranked team in the NWCA Coaches Poll. Head Coach Mark Manning, entering his 19th year at the helm of the Huskers wrestling team, has led his team to four straight top-ten finishes at the NCAA Championships.

The Huskers return seven starters, five NCAA qualifiers and three All-Americans from last year’s team. Tyler Berger, a senior from Prineville, Ore., is a two-time All-American looking to earn his third straight All-America award. He’s just 12 wins away from joining Nebraska’s 100-win club, which would make him the 28th all-time member of the 100-win club and the first since Tim Lambert joined in 2016-17.

Nebraska’s incoming class of newcomers features 10 wrestlers, including two transfers and eight true freshmen. Highlighting the class is West Virginia transfer Zeke Moisey, who has one year of eligibility remaining to compete for the Huskers. He’s a two-time All-American who finished eighth in the 125 pound bracket at the 2018 NCAA Championships.

The Huskers will face a daunting schedule, with duals against 13 of the top-25 team finishers from last year’s NCAA Championships. The home schedule is highlighted by matchups against top-25 NCAA Championships finishers Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Northern Iowa and Illinois.

Fans will have their first chance to come and watch the Nebraska wrestling team tonight, as the Huskers will host its annual wrestle-offs inside the Hendricks Training Complex. The first bout begins at 6 p.m., following the 2018 Fall Coaches Clinic and an autograph signing with former Husker James Green, a four-time All-American at NU.
