Nebraska’s Stance On The Death Penalty

Lawmakers are wondering if the new rules regarding Nebraska's death penalty could keep the men accused of killing five people in Norfolk off death row. Police think the men shot 4-bank employees and a customer during a robbery at the Norfolk U-S Bank last Thursday morning. Now.. State Senator Gene Tyson is calling for a special session to clarify Nebraska's stance on the death penalty. If the men are convicted, they could face the death penalty. But Senator Tyson is concerned because the Supreme Court recently said Nebraska's death sentence law was unconstitutional. Tyson must now convince 33 of the Unicameral's 49-members to agree with a special session.
